I thought that they had all undergone the Longbow upgrade, but I guess I was wrong.

I have a cousin who flew these after West Point. He loved every minute of it but constant deployments (once to Iraq, once to Afghanistan as an advisor to a ANA Special Forces unit and not even flying) and training convinced him that 6 years was long enough in the Army.

Speaking of Lunken, apparently there's someone who flies 737-800's into the place. That strikes me as insane.

Turbine engine with inlet cover.

My house is right under one the main flight paths. There are some surprisingly large jets that fly over at low altitudes.

I'm not surprised. Part of me expects Cincy/NKY to close down because nothing surprises me about that place anymore. Lunken can handle the smaller regional jets with ease (and a major upgrade in facilities), but man the local populace would choke a bitch if that ever happened full time.

I can't speak for the ones you saw, but the one in that picture has undergone the Longbow upgrade.

Those three did not have it.

I know I would choke a bitch. Jets get annoying rather quickly at 2 am.

If they had a spikey thing at the top of the main rotor, then they were 'A' model Apaches. If the main rotor was missing the spike or it had the green cheese wheel on top, then it was a 'D' model Longbow. Only one out of four Longbow Apaches get the rotor mounted MMW radar as US Army doctrine has the Apaches hunting tanks in packs of four.

These were all A models, the spike was there.

It may have been an ARNG unit. I don't think all of those have been upgraded yet.
